Google has been testing its Google Tags product for the last month, which allows Google Places users to purchase a yellow tag that appears on their Google.com and Google Maps listing to highlight specific information about their company in the search results, such as a coupon. Now Outrank.com has found that the search engine giant is launching the service nationwide and adding mobile interface capability.

Businesses across the United States can sign up for Google Tags for a flat rate of $25/mo.  Although Google is slowly rolling out across the country, Tags are currently available in California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Texas, Washington, and Washington, DC.

While the yellow tag does not affect the ranking of a listing, it does make the business stand out in the search results.  Sponsored listings are already commonplace in Google’s organic listings and on other listings sites such as eBay, so this is a natural progression for Google Places.
